welcome to Demystify Magic with Molly and Madison i'm Molly a former skeptic turned full-time energy healer andteacher and I'm Madison a born and raised witch running my family's crystal shop and we're here to explore all things woo through the lens of bothscience and spirituality so that you can find the moments of magic in your everyday life and create an intentionalspiritual practice so if that's what you're into find a cozy spot take a deep breath and let's demystify somemagic howdy dudy friends howdy duty friends we are back for the thirdinstallment of elementary schoolyou're welcome Molly i give you one finally finally one indulgence in yourpuns and that's it hey someone commented saying that they loved that title sowe're giving the people what they want we're giving the person what they wantone one person that's the thing about Molly and I one all it has to be is one person one person tells us that theywant an episode one person tells us that they like something and we're like "The people needit everyone's begging." Likewise one person could make a meancomment we're like "Everybody hates our podcast let's throw in the towel." Famously famously it was maybe oneperson who said that they didn't like the reruns and we were like well we're canceling the podcast it's over and youknow what last week's episode that we famously filmed while I was waiting for the police to arrive at my home that wasfor you person who doesn't like reruns because there was no opportunity for usto uh re-record and I had you in my heart when I said no it's fine I canrecord it's okay you I'll do it i just want to give a shout out to Lily the real MVP of this podcastbecause I don't know how much content we sent her to clip down to be that episodebut it sounds so seamless we finished recording and I was like "Well that episode's 5 minutes long."Somehow she made it sound good i was like "Wow you can't even you can't even tell that you're spiraling into despairand Drew is interrupting every 5 minutes." Oh yeah that was the best part is that I couldn't record that episodein the Here's a little BTS moment is that I couldn't record that episode in my office where I could close the door ihad to record that episode in my kitchen because the incident that uhcaused me to call the police happened right outside my office windowand so Drew was sitting 3 feet from me the whole time that we were recording itwas quite the day but you know what it can only go up from here it can only goup from here the whole story is over on our Patreon if you have not joined yet you should really join because when weshould I tell them about the 500 subscriber goal i think that you should go to our page and see what Molly set asthe 500 subscriber challenge yeah so when we get 500 paid subscribersyou there's a little treat it's up on our Patreon now so demystifymagic.com if you want tosupport the pod we'd love to have you over there we're having a blast we started an impromptu book clubwe've got group chats that's been my favorite chats yeah my favorite part isthat you and I share a login and so no one ever knows when it's you or metalking and sometimes we'll talk to each other and it just looks like we're having a mental breakdown oh yeah it is um it's like become a little fun gamethat we all play which is who's speaking and we've just decided I guess thatwe're not going to take the very easy route which is like signing off or like saying who's speaking in the messages nousing an emoji nope there's nothing that we could possibly do to rectify thesituation you just have to guess and that's the fun of it that's the fun of the group chat is it's like people havecome into our boxer and are just and we're all hanging out together yeah it'sgreat so anyways today we're talking about fire and it we're going to be on fire todaydon't even worry about it but first Molly what was your magic moment thisweek okay this feels like a million years ago now but someone reminded me that I didn't actually mention it iteased it and then I didn't mention it in a magic moment and so I got to crossoff something off my bingo board a couple weeks ago i won sponsor games ohyeah which you might be thinking what is sponsor games why was it on your bingo board well I put it on my bingo board aslike a tehea because I was just like oh wouldn't it be fun if I won this thingthat I didn't know anything about before I went there i vlogged the whole thing so if you want to see like all themanifestation rituals I did and all the preparation all the silly things I did when I was in Texas it's up on myYouTube we'll link it in the show notes but my internet friend Justin Moore he's like a sponsorship coach and so he was abig big part of me early on in kind of like my journey to where I am now andhelped me basically like land sponsorships so I could quit my job which then gave me enough space to likestart this podcast and like create content I wanted to and start mytraining program and all of that so he's I' I'm will ride for Justin Moore he'screator wizard everywhere he has a new book it's called Sponsor Magnet he's the best he's just like the most genuinedude and so when he said he was doing his first Inerson event and it was going to be a competition I was like "Great iwill be there and I will be winning." Of course of course to the point whereat the first like networking event i introduced myself to one of the event sponsors he was like "Hi I'm R.J." And Iwas like "Hi I'm Molly Donlin i will be the grand prize winner i I cannot waitto be a Paper Form user for life." And he was like "Okay cool great." Loveand so I just had like this very like I just decided to do the the manifestationthing that people always say where it's like live like you already have it and I was like cool we're going to be like over the top and delusional and justlike I'm I'm just going to spur everyone in this room because despite a room fullof content creators there were a lot of introverts and so I was like "Okay someone has to be the loud one who'slike hyping everyone up in these games." And that was me that was me in the back of the room just screaming "Let's go!"every time I got a question right and jumping up and down shooting a money gunyou name it anyways I won this competition and that's that was like a magic moment in and of itself the wholejourney was just like super fun but the magic moment that you all are first to hear about is that our listenersactually won a prize from sponsored games because I'm very excited aboutthis one of the surprise grand prizes was that I get a basically a trip allexpense paid trip out to Chicago to use Kit Studios which is like a videopodcasting studio and I was like "Cool since I'm paid for I'm gonna pay forMadison to fly out." And so I love my sugar mama Mollyi was like "It's a write off it's a write-off." You all have been asking for a video podcast for ever and we're notgoing to commit to having this podcast be a video podcast forever but what we will commit to is we will go out toChicago we have two days in the studio and we will film a fun little series and we willthis podcast as much as we can and so if you have ideas for series I would love like I don't know about you but I wouldlove like a easy to bundle series like the chakras or the elements that we're doing right now where it's like packagedlike we know we have six episodes kind of thing so if you have any ideas pop them in the form in our show notes andmaybe you'll see them on video coming soon i'm very excited about this me tooi wasn't expecting that I would win a prize when you won the sponsor games you knowyeah i got off stage and I immediately voice memo Madison i was like how do you feel about going to Chicago and I said"Sign me up." And if you're like "Molly Madison you're not going to get anything done." Um that's not true because Joe iscoming with us joe my famous editor for YouTube who is very fun and also veryorganized and so I was like "We need a handler." Yeah we will have a handler coming don't worry someone to say "Heyget your ass back in gear." Yep what was your magic moment mine is also aboutwinning a competition oh my god we are winners we are winners on this podcastokay i was just on vacation i was on a cruise which is why we had to recordthat episode even though I was in distress last week uh was because I was going out of town for a week and wouldhave no internet so it was literally record or runanother rerun and what can I say the hate it burrows deep in my heart i feelit but I was on a cruise for six days itwas really excellent and one thing it was Drew andI went my partner Drew not Molly's editor Drewthat would be weird that would be weird we should switch Drews for a day that's a fun that's a fun content thing we swwe swapped Drews anyways unrelated that's That was a really good idea noanyways my boyfriend Drew and I went on a cruise and we're not really like Idon't know if you've been on a cruise i think that this is like also kind of a Florida thing because there's like 50million cruise ports like out of Florida and so sure most people I know liketheir family vacation growing up was cruises i really enjoy a situation in which Ihave to be forced to relax because what there is to do on cruises is trivia goto a magic show a puzzle competition orcasino one thing about my boyfriend Drew is he does enjoy acasino one thing about me is I love a slot machine i am an iPadbaby and a slot machine is a grown-up iPad baby you know like it's it's justiPad baby with higher stakes uhhuh exactly exactly but I just like put $10in a slot machine put it on the one cent thing and you have like half an hour's entertainment you know my thing with thecasino you can do that i've literally never played a slot machine oh we'll go don't worry anywayswhere are the slot machines in Chicago going to a casino in Chicago adding itto the itinerary anyways on this cruise they had like little tournaments and itwas like $25 to enter they had a blackjack tournament and they had a slots tournament two things I enjoydoing i called my dad after this cruise cuz I like had I realized that when Iwas a small child my dad taught me how to play blackjack and I called him i go "Do you remember teaching me how to play blackjack when I was like eight?" Hegoes "Yeah why?" But anyways picture this i met the blackjack tournament thiswas not what I won this was not what I won other people much better at blackjack than me won that but it waslike this huge event that like 50 people showed up to and so I was like "Okay great this is something to do for anhour." Like I watch other people play blackjack i lose a fun time is had by all i look up from across this crowdthat's gathered and I see former survivor winner Adam Kleinsorry I knew this was coming and I also forgot this was coming at the same time and I am not a person who like cares aton about celebrity i have never been starrucklike this in my life i gripped Drew's arm and I said "That guy in that redtank top won Survivor millennial vers Gen X he wonhis name's Adam." I go on his Instagram cuz I'm a creep mhm and I see I'm like I have to confirm before I like approachthis person and then he's like "No what the [ __ ] are you talking about?" I see on his story he's posted that he's likeon a cruise i'm like "That has to be him." So we're in this blackjack tournament together i'm like I'm I'mvibrating i'm like "That man has met Jeff like I have to talk to him." Drew Fullygoes "I've never seen you this way." I was like "You don't understand." Sowhatever the blackjack tournament people are like people have lost it's the final things have calmed down drew is fullywalked away he's like doing something else i'm standing there pretending to watch these people play blackjack to figure out like if it's weird toapproach this band and ask if he's played Survivor i finally do he was so nice he asked me if I was playing thetournament i go "Oh yeah I already lost fully." Like not interested i told him "Oh but later there's a slots tournamentand that's my jam i love a slot machine i'll be playing the slots tournament we have a nice interaction i'm like "Wow hewas so nice love when people are nice." Whatever the slots tournament comes hehas signed up for the slots tournament so I'm like "Oh so fullywe're besties now." Because if you thought I was a weirdo you would have been like "Ooh that girl's playing the slots tournament at two i got to get outof here." He he joins the slots tournament he's also with his friend who played aseason of Survivor I have not seen sorry sir don't mean to be rude haven't watch I'm not caught up on the last coupleyears of Survivor my bad but long story short they had to playthis tournament in rounds cuz there's like only eight machines that are available for this tournament whateverso I played and then Drew plays in the second round he sees me he leans over itgoes "Is that your boyfriend?" Points at Drew i go "Yeah." He starts cheering for him in the round we're all togethercheering for Drew on this last tournament and then I ended up taking the prize oh my god I didn't know youwon i won the slots tournament against Shut up former Survivor winner Adam ilove when there's a surprise in your magic moment for me i intentionally left it out because I I had to tell you thatI met the guy from Survivor i was fully like live texting Molly during the like watching it while it unfolded i think Iwas on my run when you first texted me you texted me and you were like "This is my fan girl moment." And I was like Ilove that for you i went on my run and when I got back I was like how's it going you're like we're besties now he'scheering Drew up it was so good it was so goodit was thrilling and I saw him like two or three more times and he would just be like "Hey whatever." Like he saw Drewlike playing blackjack or something later on the cruise he goes "Don't lose all your winnings." I was like "Oh Adamare you guys like so silly besties are we going to have him on the pod?" Like what listen what is the next step i Youtexted me and go "Does he know you're a famous podcaster?" And I said "No." I was trying so hard but there was no good way to slip itin i should have invited him i should have been like "Listen let's talk about manifestation."I don't know what are you doing on Monday yeah how do you how do you how did you manifest your Survivor winreally I'll abandon what this podcast is about to talk about Survivorit was so good all I know about Survivor is that they do their little meetingsevery week around a fire so maybe we should talk about the thing we talkedabout we said we were going to talk about this week yeah fire is your life in Survivor that is famously what we sayin this game fire is your life okay sorry and some could argue that fire isclosely tied to your life force when it comes to the elements that was anexcellent segue i forgot that we are here to talk about anything else i know Madison thought we were recording acourt of Molly and Madison sorry I just got really excitedbut before we go any further let's hear a word from our sponsorsthis episode is sponsored by Conscious Seed you know those times when the cosmos are clearly trying to tell yousomething but you're like "Could you maybe just email me instead?" cosmic offerings at the link in this episode's description your chart is waiting andthe stars are like finally we've been screaming thank you again to ConsciousSeed for sponsoring this episode and we're back anyway we're hereto talk about fire if you haven't listened the other two episodes in this elementary school series you shouldmaybe do that first because we're just going to jump right into it so traditional Chinese medicine does have afire element unlike last week okay good good fire is the most yangelement so if you've listened to any of our seasonal equinox solstice episodesyou're familiar with the word yang if not in Chinese medicine there's basically like two ways we categorizeenergy or describe them the yin and yang are adjectives basically and yin is darker slower more receptive it'sturning inward it's being rather than doing it's stillness rather thanmovement uh and yang is the opposite yang is go go go go go it's hot it'sfast it's fiery it's active it's outward directed energy it's very much like thesummer versus yin is the winter and so fire is the most yang of the elementsit's the maximum activity and expansion when we compare fire against any of theother elements in TCM it's also closely tied with the heart as an organ which isconsidered like the emperor of the organ because it governs blood circulation andit houses the shen which is the spirit in Chinese medicine so if you have animbalance in that fire element that might show up as agitation anxiety or disturbed sleepthat's because the heart governs the blood circulation and houses the spirit or the shen sometimes this is describedas the mind also so it's kind of like an agitation of the mind so we can see thatshow up like agitation of the mind during the daytime might show up as anxiety and at night might show up as wehave a hard time sleeping or we have nightmares and things like that that's like when we have that excess fire toomuch fire uh it might also show up as excessive sweating or a flushed face buton the other hand if we don't have enough fire that can show up as like uhrestlessness or cold hands cold feet just feeling generally sort of likedisconnected i think so often when we think about fire and the heart I thinkabout that sense of connection connection to self connection to others but also our drive and that ties intothe fire element as it relates to the chakra system because fire governs thesolar plexus which is just below the heart like at the base of the sternum and the solar plexus is your home ofyour power it's your confidence it's your willpower it's your get up and goit's your passion it's truly your fire what lights you up yeah and I think thethat like solar plexus connection is where a lot of the beliefs about fire ingeneral paganism witchcraft come from because it is very deeply tied topassion and to creativity so in tarot the wand suit is connected to fire andwands are all about that thing that lights you up inside it's all about that that thing that like gives you that getup and go energy like what what gets you up out of bed in the morning that is where that fire energy comes in andespecially that creative energy artists I see a lot of wands in their spreadsyou know anyone who has that creative drive even like people likechefs have that fire energy like any sort of like creative path I end upseeing a lot of wands in their readings because they they have that thing thatpropels them forward what I just realized is so in case you're just tuning in Madison and I are training torun a half marathon together and what I've noticed is after I run I feel like I'm able to unlock that creativity rightlike this morning I was like I don't want to do anything i don't want to do anything i was this close to being likemaybe we shouldn't record today but I was like I'll go on my run and then see how I feel and then afterwards I waslike all right I'm ready let's record a hundred episodes let's do it and it'slike that type of movement really does jostle up that fire element within the body and like and also impacts the heartand also impacts the breath which is so closely tied to the solar plexus yeah and I see physical movement as reallytied to fire energy as well like I think it's easy to bridge the gap between those two things like one gives way tothe other because like literally when we're running we're like lighting a fire in ourselves like our bodies heat upphysically yeah i see like fire element in more yang movements runningweightlifting circuit training you know where your heart is pumping and water more yin movements like restorativestretching softening the body body work that kind of thing yeah and I found forme personally when I am in balance with those types of movement even like onegives way to the other too i found running to be a really really amazing tool for processing mhm yeah andI think that it kind of like we talk about these elements very separately because you know if we didn't it wouldbe a 6-hour podcast but the interconnectedness of like when we achieve balance in one area how thatkind of helps us achieve balance in another i think that that's an important part of this too and I see it the most with fire because fire for me is theeasiest thing to ignore that's what I see like with people because it isclosely tied to the things in life that kind of fall to the wayside where wehave to kind of pivot our focus things like our creative endeavors you knowunless you are a working artist and that's the only thing that you dothat's you know it's considered a hobby that's one of the first things to fall away when I'm not taking care of myselfmentally I'm also not taking care of myself physically which means that that physical movement falls to the waysideyou know and so when I come into balance with fire that's where kind of everythingelse kind of falls into place yeah i also think fire too is like one thatit's very clear when it's out of balance because it shows up in the way that you feel but also the way that you do thingsin your life like if we think about just fire like the physicality of fire it canbe anywhere from a pilot light to a wildfire right mhm and I see the pilotlight so much of like you know when you're feeling kind of blah when you want to do a thing but you can't reallyget started and you know once you start doing the thing it's going to be easier right once you ignite that pilot lightand you add some fuel to it it can it can sustain itself mhm and we see that so often in our habits whether it'screative or our health habits or just the things that we know are going to make us feel our best that are going tohelp us tap into our power but on the other hand we can also go too far in inthat direction and we can you know I know for me when I was when I first started running 10 years ago I wasobsessed with running this was before my OCD diagnosis by the way everything makes more sense in hindsight but I waslike I would wake up at like 4 in the morning to run 8 n miles before going towork all day and then I would go to the gym after work and I didn't realize that I was just like I was running on fumesyou know i was just running on that fire that can't be contained until I burntout mhm look at that wow look at us out burnt out huh i neverthought about that until I just said that but genuinely like you can burn too hotand too fast in some things and so it's like I think the biggest thing when it comes to balancing this fire is likereally not letting the fire run the show like I think keeping it in check withwater which we're going to talk about next week but water is so like intuitive it's so connected to self it's so inwardit's so yin i think those playing off of each other are such like a beautiful wayto ensure that you have like a contained flame rather than somethingthat is burning too hot or is snuffed out yeah for sure so for crystals acouple that I really like are sunstone because that kind of taps into theenergy of the sun which is a ball of fire really really another good one iscitrine and carnelon citrine is great for tapping into that confidence thatpower that solar plexus carnelon is great for stoking that fire element that get up and go that motivation thatenergy that willpower that courage yeah i also really love hematid quartz also known as fire quartz oo I never workwith fire quartz i love it if you are looking for like if you want to havesomething that like symbolizes each of the elements on your altarfire quartz is a really great way to bring in fire the way that the inclusions like move through the stoneit looks like flames mhm and that's one that I really struggle to like incorporate on an altar cuz I'm likewhat the like I'm not just going to set something on fire like that's stressful candles yeah but like separate i don'tknow it just is different like Gotcha yeah okay just I'm with you i see you iunderstand but I need something that I don't have to be looking at all the time like if I'm going to do candle magic andI want something to incorporate all four elements I don't want another thing on fire yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah no understood mhm i need a representationof that fire i really love to use hematid quartz for that m I will use like spicy something spicylike chili chili peppers oh that's nice i like that yeah cuz it kind of stokes that inner fire mhm if you're looking toincorporate fire into rituals candles obviously like we just said butalso dance this is something that I will do often like I'll use music to sound cleansegive a little shoulder shimmy you know little shoulder shimmy do a little a little macarina moment you know do thelittle kicks yeah give it a cotton eye Joe if you if you're feeling fancy youknow do the kids still do the cotton eye Joe i don't know i don't know how to do itis the truth i'm sorry i know what we're doing inChicago joe I'm sorry we're going to be doing the Cotton Night Joe in the casinoanyways fire is also something that you can use to like transmute mhm and so if like this is somethingthat I do when I am having a lot of big feelings that I need to process is I'll bring in firewhat I think is so cool about fire is that like it's this it's the closest thing that we haveto looking at like raw untouched energy you know it's not it's something we cansee but we can't touch like it's there but it's not there and that makes itvery deeply spiritual to me it feels like almost portal likeDoes that make sense yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah and so when I'm working with fire Ifeel deeply connected to that kind of change energy and so if I have thingsthat I'm looking to to make different if I have things that I'm looking to totransmute fire is my go-to element that I want to bring in and I think that's why I find candle magic to be sopowerful is it's literally mixing my pure intention with that deeplytransformative energy yeah i also think of fire as like fast transformation mhmbecause it's like goes up in flames you know yeah and literally think about what fire does like to wood right mhm ittakes this part of a tree and turns it into ashes you know like there's nothingmore transformative than that to me yeah totally yeah something that I reallylike doing is we're um not a bonfire because bonfire sounds too intense butwe're like a backyard fire family you know we have a little little silly goofycampfire in the backyard and make some s'mores and burn some brush andsomething that I started doing a couple years ago is I turn my drier lint intofire starters mhm and when I was writing my book I in the laundry chapter I wascoming up with a bunch of different ways that you can make dryer lint magical so that you actually like clean the dryerand I thought about it in these fire starters that we're creating where we basically take like it's atoilet paper roll and then you stuff it with dryer lint and then you put like candle wax or like my husband uses bacongrease or like whatever kind of like waxy greasy oily kind of whatever andthen you light it and that's how you start your fire pit but I thought this is such a powerfullike full moon transmutation ritual because you're literally taking yourlint from the clothes that you were wearing all week right so the energy you've been marinatingin writing down on the toilet paper roll or on a piece of paper that you shove in there what you want to release mhm whatyou want to let go go of and then ceremoniously burning it away and starting this like new flame that bringswarmth and like I mean I make s'mores around it so brings joy but could be islike such a powerful tool for like releasing just whatever it is whateverit is you want to let go of i love that I get maybe two good weeks of bonfireweather so I've got a lot of I I shove it all in in that little period you know i save all my dryer lint yeah bags andbags of it but I love that love it i also reallylove candle magic for sparking motivation i find that is like one ofthe most effective tools for me is just like making a candle for motivationwhether it's motivating me to work to do something creative to clean my house or whatever and lighting that candle andjust letting that be the first step of doing the thing you know how they say like if you struggle to like motivateyourself to exercise put your socks on and then you'll put your shoes on and then you'll walk out the door and then you take that step uhhuh to me lightingthat motivation candle is like putting my socks on for sure totally i love thatyeah i think that So one of the candles that we have at Hedge Witch is creativity and inspiration and that tome I know I think that it's your favorite becauseit is so aligned with the element of fire it's perfect for candle magic andthat really does it gives a physical representation to that like first thatfirst spark that first spark of creativity that first spark of inspiration and I don't know I I thinkthat that's like a perfect way if you are not someone who feels super like ifyou're someone who's looking to get into candle magic i think that that's a great place to start yeah i also like thisjust dropped in while we were talking so I feel like we should speak to it because someone is out there listeningthinking about this but what would you say to someone who feels afraid of liketapping into the fire element cuz there is like fire has this like fear element to it like burning burning everything tothe ground or burning too hot and fast can be scary i would say that whennature is in balance we still have wildfires those are a natural and necessary andimportant part of our natural ecosystem you know like it's like the tower cardsince we've been talking so much about tarot so much of what the tower card symbolizes is like yes it is a literalburning to the ground you know it's like a crumbling mhm we call the major arcana the fool's journey because every pieceof that is necessary and so this is not to say that like you shouldn't or likethat feeling fear is wrong i think that that's like also a very natural part of all of it because like it's still scaryto be standing in a wildfire if it's good for you or notbut it is important to remember that you have to destroy so you can build yeah ilike that yeah but what keeps coming to me is like the phoenix you know thetraditional like phoenix rises from the ashes is born from the ashes it's like Ithink when we when something burns down we can either you know grieve inthe rubble or we can build something new mhm and I think that really what you cando or what I I what I would like to give you listened or permission to do is togrieve while you build yeah oh snapshot diggity damn did we do it i think we did it i want to leave it on that we didit wow you know what you guys you light my fire oh you are myfire the [Music]oneire believe anyways when Isay howy dothanks for listening to Demystify welcome to Demystify Magic with Molly and Madison i'm Molly a former skeptic turned full-time energy healer andteacher and I'm Madison a born and raised witch running my family's crystal shop and we're here to explore all things woo through the lens of bothscience and spirituality so that you can find the moments of magic in your everyday life and create an intentionalspiritual practice so if that's what you're into find a cozy spot take a deep breath and let's demystify somemagic howdy dudy friends howdy duty friends we are back for the thirdinstallment of elementary schoolyou're welcome Molly i give you one finally finally one indulgence in yourpuns and that's it hey someone commented saying that they loved that title sowe're giving the people what they want we're giving the person what they wantone one person that's the thing about Molly and I one all it has to be is one person one person tells us that theywant an episode one person tells us that they like something and we're like "The people needit everyone's begging." Likewise one person could make a meancomment we're like "Everybody hates our podcast let's throw in the towel." Famously famously it was maybe oneperson who said that they didn't like the reruns and we were like well we're canceling the podcast it's over and youknow what last week's episode that we famously filmed while I was waiting for the police to arrive at my home that wasfor you person who doesn't like reruns because there was no opportunity for usto uh re-record and I had you in my heart when I said no it's fine I canrecord it's okay you I'll do it i just want to give a shout out to Lily the real MVP of this podcastbecause I don't know how much content we sent her to clip down to be that episodebut it sounds so seamless we finished recording and I was like "Well that episode's 5 minutes long."Somehow she made it sound good i was like "Wow you can't even you can't even tell that you're spiraling into despairand Drew is interrupting every 5 minutes." Oh yeah that was the best part is that I couldn't record that episodein the Here's a little BTS moment is that I couldn't record that episode in my office where I could close the door ihad to record that episode in my kitchen because the incident that uhcaused me to call the police happened right outside my office windowand so Drew was sitting 3 feet from me the whole time that we were recording itwas quite the day but you know what it can only go up from here it can only goup from here the whole story is over on our Patreon if you have not joined yet you should really join because when weshould I tell them about the 500 subscriber goal i think that you should go to our page and see what Molly set asthe 500 subscriber challenge yeah so when we get 500 paid subscribersyou there's a little treat it's up on our Patreon now so demystifymagic.com if you want tosupport the pod we'd love to have you over there we're having a blast we started an impromptu book clubwe've got group chats that's been my favorite chats yeah my favorite part isthat you and I share a login and so no one ever knows when it's you or metalking and sometimes we'll talk to each other and it just looks like we're having a mental breakdown oh yeah it is um it's like become a little fun gamethat we all play which is who's speaking and we've just decided I guess thatwe're not going to take the very easy route which is like signing off or like saying who's speaking in the messages nousing an emoji nope there's nothing that we could possibly do to rectify thesituation you just have to guess and that's the fun of it that's the fun of the group chat is it's like people havecome into our boxer and are just and we're all hanging out together yeah it'sgreat so anyways today we're talking about fire and it we're going to be on fire todaydon't even worry about it but first Molly what was your magic moment thisweek okay this feels like a million years ago now but someone reminded me that I didn't actually mention it iteased it and then I didn't mention it in a magic moment and so I got to crossoff something off my bingo board a couple weeks ago i won sponsor games ohyeah which you might be thinking what is sponsor games why was it on your bingo board well I put it on my bingo board aslike a tehea because I was just like oh wouldn't it be fun if I won this thingthat I didn't know anything about before I went there i vlogged the whole thing so if you want to see like all themanifestation rituals I did and all the preparation all the silly things I did when I was in Texas it's up on myYouTube we'll link it in the show notes but my internet friend Justin Moore he's like a sponsorship coach and so he was abig big part of me early on in kind of like my journey to where I am now andhelped me basically like land sponsorships so I could quit my job which then gave me enough space to likestart this podcast and like create content I wanted to and start mytraining program and all of that so he's I' I'm will ride for Justin Moore he'screator wizard everywhere he has a new book it's called Sponsor Magnet he's the best he's just like the most genuinedude and so when he said he was doing his first Inerson event and it was going to be a competition I was like "Great iwill be there and I will be winning." Of course of course to the point whereat the first like networking event i introduced myself to one of the event sponsors he was like "Hi I'm R.J." And Iwas like "Hi I'm Molly Donlin i will be the grand prize winner i I cannot waitto be a Paper Form user for life." And he was like "Okay cool great." Loveand so I just had like this very like I just decided to do the the manifestationthing that people always say where it's like live like you already have it and I was like cool we're going to be like over the top and delusional and justlike I'm I'm just going to spur everyone in this room because despite a room fullof content creators there were a lot of introverts and so I was like "Okay someone has to be the loud one who'slike hyping everyone up in these games." And that was me that was me in the back of the room just screaming "Let's go!"every time I got a question right and jumping up and down shooting a money gunyou name it anyways I won this competition and that's that was like a magic moment in and of itself the wholejourney was just like super fun but the magic moment that you all are first to hear about is that our listenersactually won a prize from sponsored games because I'm very excited aboutthis one of the surprise grand prizes was that I get a basically a trip allexpense paid trip out to Chicago to use Kit Studios which is like a videopodcasting studio and I was like "Cool since I'm paid for I'm gonna pay forMadison to fly out." And so I love my sugar mama Mollyi was like "It's a write off it's a write-off." You all have been asking for a video podcast for ever and we're notgoing to commit to having this podcast be a video podcast forever but what we will commit to is we will go out toChicago we have two days in the studio and we will film a fun little series and we willthis podcast as much as we can and so if you have ideas for series I would love like I don't know about you but I wouldlove like a easy to bundle series like the chakras or the elements that we're doing right now where it's like packagedlike we know we have six episodes kind of thing so if you have any ideas pop them in the form in our show notes andmaybe you'll see them on video coming soon i'm very excited about this me tooi wasn't expecting that I would win a prize when you won the sponsor games you knowyeah i got off stage and I immediately voice memo Madison i was like how do you feel about going to Chicago and I said"Sign me up." And if you're like "Molly Madison you're not going to get anything done." Um that's not true because Joe iscoming with us joe my famous editor for YouTube who is very fun and also veryorganized and so I was like "We need a handler." Yeah we will have a handler coming don't worry someone to say "Heyget your ass back in gear." Yep what was your magic moment mine is also aboutwinning a competition oh my god we are winners we are winners on this podcastokay i was just on vacation i was on a cruise which is why we had to recordthat episode even though I was in distress last week uh was because I was going out of town for a week and wouldhave no internet so it was literally record or runanother rerun and what can I say the hate it burrows deep in my heart i feelit but I was on a cruise for six days itwas really excellent and one thing it was Drew andI went my partner Drew not Molly's editor Drewthat would be weird that would be weird we should switch Drews for a day that's a fun that's a fun content thing we swwe swapped Drews anyways unrelated that's That was a really good idea noanyways my boyfriend Drew and I went on a cruise and we're not really like Idon't know if you've been on a cruise i think that this is like also kind of a Florida thing because there's like 50million cruise ports like out of Florida and so sure most people I know liketheir family vacation growing up was cruises i really enjoy a situation in which Ihave to be forced to relax because what there is to do on cruises is trivia goto a magic show a puzzle competition orcasino one thing about my boyfriend Drew is he does enjoy acasino one thing about me is I love a slot machine i am an iPadbaby and a slot machine is a grown-up iPad baby you know like it's it's justiPad baby with higher stakes uhhuh exactly exactly but I just like put $10in a slot machine put it on the one cent thing and you have like half an hour's entertainment you know my thing with thecasino you can do that i've literally never played a slot machine oh we'll go don't worry anywayswhere are the slot machines in Chicago going to a casino in Chicago adding itto the itinerary anyways on this cruise they had like little tournaments and itwas like $25 to enter they had a blackjack tournament and they had a slots tournament two things I enjoydoing i called my dad after this cruise cuz I like had I realized that when Iwas a small child my dad taught me how to play blackjack and I called him i go "Do you remember teaching me how to play blackjack when I was like eight?" Hegoes "Yeah why?" But anyways picture this i met the blackjack tournament thiswas not what I won this was not what I won other people much better at blackjack than me won that but it waslike this huge event that like 50 people showed up to and so I was like "Okay great this is something to do for anhour." Like I watch other people play blackjack i lose a fun time is had by all i look up from across this crowdthat's gathered and I see former survivor winner Adam Kleinsorry I knew this was coming and I also forgot this was coming at the same time and I am not a person who like cares aton about celebrity i have never been starrucklike this in my life i gripped Drew's arm and I said "That guy in that redtank top won Survivor millennial vers Gen X he wonhis name's Adam." I go on his Instagram cuz I'm a creep mhm and I see I'm like I have to confirm before I like approachthis person and then he's like "No what the [ __ ] are you talking about?" I see on his story he's posted that he's likeon a cruise i'm like "That has to be him." So we're in this blackjack tournament together i'm like I'm I'mvibrating i'm like "That man has met Jeff like I have to talk to him." Drew Fullygoes "I've never seen you this way." I was like "You don't understand." Sowhatever the blackjack tournament people are like people have lost it's the final things have calmed down drew is fullywalked away he's like doing something else i'm standing there pretending to watch these people play blackjack to figure out like if it's weird toapproach this band and ask if he's played Survivor i finally do he was so nice he asked me if I was playing thetournament i go "Oh yeah I already lost fully." Like not interested i told him "Oh but later there's a slots tournamentand that's my jam i love a slot machine i'll be playing the slots tournament we have a nice interaction i'm like "Wow hewas so nice love when people are nice." Whatever the slots tournament comes hehas signed up for the slots tournament so I'm like "Oh so fullywe're besties now." Because if you thought I was a weirdo you would have been like "Ooh that girl's playing the slots tournament at two i got to get outof here." He he joins the slots tournament he's also with his friend who played aseason of Survivor I have not seen sorry sir don't mean to be rude haven't watch I'm not caught up on the last coupleyears of Survivor my bad but long story short they had to playthis tournament in rounds cuz there's like only eight machines that are available for this tournament whateverso I played and then Drew plays in the second round he sees me he leans over itgoes "Is that your boyfriend?" Points at Drew i go "Yeah." He starts cheering for him in the round we're all togethercheering for Drew on this last tournament and then I ended up taking the prize oh my god I didn't know youwon i won the slots tournament against Shut up former Survivor winner Adam ilove when there's a surprise in your magic moment for me i intentionally left it out because I I had to tell you thatI met the guy from Survivor i was fully like live texting Molly during the like watching it while it unfolded i think Iwas on my run when you first texted me you texted me and you were like "This is my fan girl moment." And I was like Ilove that for you i went on my run and when I got back I was like how's it going you're like we're besties now he'scheering Drew up it was so good it was so goodit was thrilling and I saw him like two or three more times and he would just be like "Hey whatever." Like he saw Drewlike playing blackjack or something later on the cruise he goes "Don't lose all your winnings." I was like "Oh Adamare you guys like so silly besties are we going to have him on the pod?" Like what listen what is the next step i Youtexted me and go "Does he know you're a famous podcaster?" And I said "No." I was trying so hard but there was no good way to slip itin i should have invited him i should have been like "Listen let's talk about manifestation."I don't know what are you doing on Monday yeah how do you how do you how did you manifest your Survivor winreally I'll abandon what this podcast is about to talk about Survivorit was so good all I know about Survivor is that they do their little meetingsevery week around a fire so maybe we should talk about the thing we talkedabout we said we were going to talk about this week yeah fire is your life in Survivor that is famously what we sayin this game fire is your life okay sorry and some could argue that fire isclosely tied to your life force when it comes to the elements that was anexcellent segue i forgot that we are here to talk about anything else i know Madison thought we were recording acourt of Molly and Madison sorry I just got really excitedbut before we go any further let's hear a word from our sponsorsthis episode is sponsored by Conscious Seed you know those times when the cosmos are clearly trying to tell yousomething but you're like "Could you maybe just email me instead?" cosmic offerings at the link in this episode's description your chart is waiting andthe stars are like finally we've been screaming thank you again to ConsciousSeed for sponsoring this episode and we're back anyway we're hereto talk about fire if you haven't listened the other two episodes in this elementary school series you shouldmaybe do that first because we're just going to jump right into it so traditional Chinese medicine does have afire element unlike last week okay good good fire is the most yangelement so if you've listened to any of our seasonal equinox solstice episodesyou're familiar with the word yang if not in Chinese medicine there's basically like two ways we categorizeenergy or describe them the yin and yang are adjectives basically and yin is darker slower more receptive it'sturning inward it's being rather than doing it's stillness rather thanmovement uh and yang is the opposite yang is go go go go go it's hot it'sfast it's fiery it's active it's outward directed energy it's very much like thesummer versus yin is the winter and so fire is the most yang of the elementsit's the maximum activity and expansion when we compare fire against any of theother elements in TCM it's also closely tied with the heart as an organ which isconsidered like the emperor of the organ because it governs blood circulation andit houses the shen which is the spirit in Chinese medicine so if you have animbalance in that fire element that might show up as agitation anxiety or disturbed sleepthat's because the heart governs the blood circulation and houses the spirit or the shen sometimes this is describedas the mind also so it's kind of like an agitation of the mind so we can see thatshow up like agitation of the mind during the daytime might show up as anxiety and at night might show up as wehave a hard time sleeping or we have nightmares and things like that that's like when we have that excess fire toomuch fire uh it might also show up as excessive sweating or a flushed face buton the other hand if we don't have enough fire that can show up as like uhrestlessness or cold hands cold feet just feeling generally sort of likedisconnected i think so often when we think about fire and the heart I thinkabout that sense of connection connection to self connection to others but also our drive and that ties intothe fire element as it relates to the chakra system because fire governs thesolar plexus which is just below the heart like at the base of the sternum and the solar plexus is your home ofyour power it's your confidence it's your willpower it's your get up and goit's your passion it's truly your fire what lights you up yeah and I think thethat like solar plexus connection is where a lot of the beliefs about fire ingeneral paganism witchcraft come from because it is very deeply tied topassion and to creativity so in tarot the wand suit is connected to fire andwands are all about that thing that lights you up inside it's all about that that thing that like gives you that getup and go energy like what what gets you up out of bed in the morning that is where that fire energy comes in andespecially that creative energy artists I see a lot of wands in their spreadsyou know anyone who has that creative drive even like people likechefs have that fire energy like any sort of like creative path I end upseeing a lot of wands in their readings because they they have that thing thatpropels them forward what I just realized is so in case you're just tuning in Madison and I are training torun a half marathon together and what I've noticed is after I run I feel like I'm able to unlock that creativity rightlike this morning I was like I don't want to do anything i don't want to do anything i was this close to being likemaybe we shouldn't record today but I was like I'll go on my run and then see how I feel and then afterwards I waslike all right I'm ready let's record a hundred episodes let's do it and it'slike that type of movement really does jostle up that fire element within the body and like and also impacts the heartand also impacts the breath which is so closely tied to the solar plexus yeah and I see physical movement as reallytied to fire energy as well like I think it's easy to bridge the gap between those two things like one gives way tothe other because like literally when we're running we're like lighting a fire in ourselves like our bodies heat upphysically yeah i see like fire element in more yang movements runningweightlifting circuit training you know where your heart is pumping and water more yin movements like restorativestretching softening the body body work that kind of thing yeah and I found forme personally when I am in balance with those types of movement even like onegives way to the other too i found running to be a really really amazing tool for processing mhm yeah andI think that it kind of like we talk about these elements very separately because you know if we didn't it wouldbe a 6-hour podcast but the interconnectedness of like when we achieve balance in one area how thatkind of helps us achieve balance in another i think that that's an important part of this too and I see it the most with fire because fire for me is theeasiest thing to ignore that's what I see like with people because it isclosely tied to the things in life that kind of fall to the wayside where wehave to kind of pivot our focus things like our creative endeavors you knowunless you are a working artist and that's the only thing that you dothat's you know it's considered a hobby that's one of the first things to fall away when I'm not taking care of myselfmentally I'm also not taking care of myself physically which means that that physical movement falls to the waysideyou know and so when I come into balance with fire that's where kind of everythingelse kind of falls into place yeah i also think fire too is like one thatit's very clear when it's out of balance because it shows up in the way that you feel but also the way that you do thingsin your life like if we think about just fire like the physicality of fire it canbe anywhere from a pilot light to a wildfire right mhm and I see the pilotlight so much of like you know when you're feeling kind of blah when you want to do a thing but you can't reallyget started and you know once you start doing the thing it's going to be easier right once you ignite that pilot lightand you add some fuel to it it can it can sustain itself mhm and we see that so often in our habits whether it'screative or our health habits or just the things that we know are going to make us feel our best that are going tohelp us tap into our power but on the other hand we can also go too far in inthat direction and we can you know I know for me when I was when I first started running 10 years ago I wasobsessed with running this was before my OCD diagnosis by the way everything makes more sense in hindsight but I waslike I would wake up at like 4 in the morning to run 8 n miles before going towork all day and then I would go to the gym after work and I didn't realize that I was just like I was running on fumesyou know i was just running on that fire that can't be contained until I burntout mhm look at that wow look at us out burnt out huh i neverthought about that until I just said that but genuinely like you can burn too hotand too fast in some things and so it's like I think the biggest thing when it comes to balancing this fire is likereally not letting the fire run the show like I think keeping it in check withwater which we're going to talk about next week but water is so like intuitive it's so connected to self it's so inwardit's so yin i think those playing off of each other are such like a beautiful wayto ensure that you have like a contained flame rather than somethingthat is burning too hot or is snuffed out yeah for sure so for crystals acouple that I really like are sunstone because that kind of taps into theenergy of the sun which is a ball of fire really really another good one iscitrine and carnelon citrine is great for tapping into that confidence thatpower that solar plexus carnelon is great for stoking that fire element that get up and go that motivation thatenergy that willpower that courage yeah i also really love hematid quartz also known as fire quartz oo I never workwith fire quartz i love it if you are looking for like if you want to havesomething that like symbolizes each of the elements on your altarfire quartz is a really great way to bring in fire the way that the inclusions like move through the stoneit looks like flames mhm and that's one that I really struggle to like incorporate on an altar cuz I'm likewhat the like I'm not just going to set something on fire like that's stressful candles yeah but like separate i don'tknow it just is different like Gotcha yeah okay just I'm with you i see you iunderstand but I need something that I don't have to be looking at all the time like if I'm going to do candle magic andI want something to incorporate all four elements I don't want another thing on fire yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah no understood mhm i need a representationof that fire i really love to use hematid quartz for that m I will use like spicy something spicylike chili chili peppers oh that's nice i like that yeah cuz it kind of stokes that inner fire mhm if you're looking toincorporate fire into rituals candles obviously like we just said butalso dance this is something that I will do often like I'll use music to sound cleansegive a little shoulder shimmy you know little shoulder shimmy do a little a little macarina moment you know do thelittle kicks yeah give it a cotton eye Joe if you if you're feeling fancy youknow do the kids still do the cotton eye Joe i don't know i don't know how to do itis the truth i'm sorry i know what we're doing inChicago joe I'm sorry we're going to be doing the Cotton Night Joe in the casinoanyways fire is also something that you can use to like transmute mhm and so if like this is somethingthat I do when I am having a lot of big feelings that I need to process is I'll bring in firewhat I think is so cool about fire is that like it's this it's the closest thing that we haveto looking at like raw untouched energy you know it's not it's something we cansee but we can't touch like it's there but it's not there and that makes itvery deeply spiritual to me it feels like almost portal likeDoes that make sense yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah and so when I'm working with fire Ifeel deeply connected to that kind of change energy and so if I have thingsthat I'm looking to to make different if I have things that I'm looking to totransmute fire is my go-to element that I want to bring in and I think that's why I find candle magic to be sopowerful is it's literally mixing my pure intention with that deeplytransformative energy yeah i also think of fire as like fast transformation mhmbecause it's like goes up in flames you know yeah and literally think about what fire does like to wood right mhm ittakes this part of a tree and turns it into ashes you know like there's nothingmore transformative than that to me yeah totally yeah something that I reallylike doing is we're um not a bonfire because bonfire sounds too intense butwe're like a backyard fire family you know we have a little little silly goofycampfire in the backyard and make some s'mores and burn some brush andsomething that I started doing a couple years ago is I turn my drier lint intofire starters mhm and when I was writing my book I in the laundry chapter I wascoming up with a bunch of different ways that you can make dryer lint magical so that you actually like clean the dryerand I thought about it in these fire starters that we're creating where we basically take like it's atoilet paper roll and then you stuff it with dryer lint and then you put like candle wax or like my husband uses bacongrease or like whatever kind of like waxy greasy oily kind of whatever andthen you light it and that's how you start your fire pit but I thought this is such a powerfullike full moon transmutation ritual because you're literally taking yourlint from the clothes that you were wearing all week right so the energy you've been marinatingin writing down on the toilet paper roll or on a piece of paper that you shove in there what you want to release mhm whatyou want to let go go of and then ceremoniously burning it away and starting this like new flame that bringswarmth and like I mean I make s'mores around it so brings joy but could be islike such a powerful tool for like releasing just whatever it is whateverit is you want to let go of i love that I get maybe two good weeks of bonfireweather so I've got a lot of I I shove it all in in that little period you know i save all my dryer lint yeah bags andbags of it but I love that love it i also reallylove candle magic for sparking motivation i find that is like one ofthe most effective tools for me is just like making a candle for motivationwhether it's motivating me to work to do something creative to clean my house or whatever and lighting that candle andjust letting that be the first step of doing the thing you know how they say like if you struggle to like motivateyourself to exercise put your socks on and then you'll put your shoes on and then you'll walk out the door and then you take that step uhhuh to me lightingthat motivation candle is like putting my socks on for sure totally i love thatyeah i think that So one of the candles that we have at Hedge Witch is creativity and inspiration and that tome I know I think that it's your favorite becauseit is so aligned with the element of fire it's perfect for candle magic andthat really does it gives a physical representation to that like first thatfirst spark that first spark of creativity that first spark of inspiration and I don't know I I thinkthat that's like a perfect way if you are not someone who feels super like ifyou're someone who's looking to get into candle magic i think that that's a great place to start yeah i also like thisjust dropped in while we were talking so I feel like we should speak to it because someone is out there listeningthinking about this but what would you say to someone who feels afraid of liketapping into the fire element cuz there is like fire has this like fear element to it like burning burning everything tothe ground or burning too hot and fast can be scary i would say that whennature is in balance we still have wildfires those are a natural and necessary andimportant part of our natural ecosystem you know like it's like the tower cardsince we've been talking so much about tarot so much of what the tower card symbolizes is like yes it is a literalburning to the ground you know it's like a crumbling mhm we call the major arcana the fool's journey because every pieceof that is necessary and so this is not to say that like you shouldn't or likethat feeling fear is wrong i think that that's like also a very natural part of all of it because like it's still scaryto be standing in a wildfire if it's good for you or notbut it is important to remember that you have to destroy so you can build yeah ilike that yeah but what keeps coming to me is like the phoenix you know thetraditional like phoenix rises from the ashes is born from the ashes it's like Ithink when we when something burns down we can either you know grieve inthe rubble or we can build something new mhm and I think that really what you cando or what I I what I would like to give you listened or permission to do is togrieve while you build yeah oh snapshot diggity damn did we do it i think we did it i want to leave it on that we didit wow you know what you guys you light my fire oh you are myfire the [Music]oneire believe anyways when Isay howy dothanks for listening to Demystify Magic with Molly and Madison if you want to learn more about us you can find all ourlinks in the show notes we'd love to know what you think of today's episode so drop us a review or give us a shout
