Welcome to Demystify Magic with Molly and Madison.
I'm Molly, a former skeptic turned full time energy healer and teacher.
And I'm Madison, a born and raised witch running my family's crystal shop.
And we're here to explore all things woo through the lens of both science and spirituality, so that you can find the moments of magic in your everyday life and create an intentional spiritual practice.
0:20
So if that's what you're into, find a cozy spot, take a deep breath, and let's demystify some magic.
Howdy Doody friends.
Howdy Doody friends.
We are out here, we are recording this episode right under that eclipse, so be prepared for whatever comes out of our mouth in the next 45 minutes because not only is it the eclipse, we were also talking about the full moon.
0:51
Yeah.
And if you were a day one listener of this podcast, you might think to yourself, Molly Madison, you guys have already done an episode on the full moon.
You'd be correct.
I remember it well.
I almost burned my house down during that episode.
Never forget a true iconic moment in Demystify Magic lore.
1:10
It's been almost two years since we recorded that episode.
A lot's changed in the last two years.
I don't know if you've noticed, as we discussed in our revamped New Moon episode, I have no desire to listen to that episode to know what we talked about, to know if it's any good.
1:27
So we are doing a little bit of a refresh, kind of a redo moment to talk about how things have maybe changed in our practice.
And it'll probably be quite similar to the episode that you listened to two years ago, but just a little bit better.
1:44
Maybe some fresher ideas, definitely a lot more side tangents.
So if you like our friend Kirby, who listened to the new moon episode, don't like when we go off topic?
And did not fuck with it.
This one's not for you, Kirby.
Love.
You mean it?
Love.
You mean it.
2:00
You should go back and listen to like the first 30 episodes of this podcast.
You'll probably love them.
We were so afraid to talk about anything that was not on theme.
Yep.
And for the 72 million other of you, that's that's exactly how many.
2:15
People listen to this podcast confirm 72 million.
Well for the 399,000 other listeners who slid into our DMS and said you love the tangents.
This is for you, Jinx.
2:33
You owe me a crispy.
Sprite on it.
I'll FedEx it right now.
Sorry, got to go.
But first, before we get started on all of our side tangents that we've already started, sure, sure, now they're coming in.
But like usually it used to be even that, like the magic moment would start the side quest.
2:53
And now it's like before even, it's like we have to have our, we have to have our side quest before our magic moment.
Then we have our magic moment side quest, and then we have our post magic moment side quest.
But what was your magic moment this week, Molly?
My magic moment is I dyed my hair pink.
3:10
It looks gorgeous.
Thank you, thank you.
I agree.
I agree.
I've always been a rose gold girly.
I feel like rose gold looks really good with my complexion and so my hair is faded to a nice rose gold.
But it's my magic moment because I have never dyed my hair like a fun color, even though I was an e-mail kid, no.
3:31
That's OK, that's a there are quite there are a few times that I learned something new about you on this podcast.
Nothing has surprised me like that knowledge.
I know, right?
I've always wanted to.
Especially with naturally blonde hair, like you had it so easy.
3:47
I know, I know.
But I was always told my hair is so beautiful, Shirley Temple, blah blah blah.
Like don't dye it, don't cut it, don't do anything.
So I grew up feeling like I had to preserve my perfect pristine blonde hair and I didn't get to go through the wacky colorful hair that everyone else at Warp Tour got to go through.
4:12
I was the kid with The Dirty blonde hair surrounded by the mohawks that were purple and I was so jealous.
ANYWAYS, my dream came true a couple weeks ago.
I was sitting looking at my hair, and I was like, you know, it would be fun if I dyed my hair a fun color.
4:30
You know, I think pink would look good.
It's temporary, by the way.
And then a brand slid into my DMS.
They're like, hey, we have temporary hair color.
Do you want some?
And I was like, look.
Yeah.
And I feel like a different person since I have colored my hair.
4:47
I feel just, like, more authentically me in the weirdest way.
Like, I'm just like, here I am with my pink hair.
What's up?
And it was, it was OK.
The only way I can just subscribe, this is when I was 23, I had a moment where I realized you can just buy a cake and it doesn't have to be your birthday.
5:10
And that was like, I remember going to the grocery store, buying a birthday cake, feeling like it was illegal, and then having the greatest time eating it over the course of a week.
And this is how I feel with pink hair.
I'm like, I, I can just do that.
5:25
And my inner child is just so happy.
She's like screaming for joy.
The small moments of adulthood of realizing like, oh, there are no rules.
Yeah.
Like, I can.
I have a credit card.
I know I can do whatever I want.
5:42
I can do whatever I want.
It really you, you have really inspired me, 'cause I was the kid, I had purple hair for quite a while as a as a teenager and into early adulthood.
And this hair has seen some things.
But now that my hair is like a little bit longer and a lot healthier after I grew up, that terrible haircut, that was after that terrible haircut three years ago, literally I've done nothing to it.
6:10
Like I've gotten it cut since obviously because I kept my hair short for like quite a while, but I have not dyed it.
I have not.
I've done, I've done nothing experimental with my hair.
I've like had a trauma response to, to any bold choices.
And then you dyed your hair pink and I was like, wait, that is something I could do.
6:31
There are no rules.
I know.
So if you're a vivid stylist in Saint Pete, Florida, slide into my TMS 'cause I was not blessed with blonde hair and I don't trust myself to do it at home anymore.
Yeah, I've outgrown the the bathroom bleach job.
6:49
I I hear you.
Yeah.
I've never never been there, never done that, never bought the T-shirt.
I did.
I, I I have enough of the T-shirts for the two of us.
I'll lend you one, Sweet.
Sounds good.
Alright.
What was your magic moment?
Last week, my magic moment gave me a little bit of a vulnerability hangover, so I'm swinging completely in the other direction.
7:10
I have the silliest magic moment for you guys today, and it is a little bit of me remembering that there's no roles in adulthood.
And so I was at Target the other day and I was there on a mission, but I also had time to kill.
7:26
Oh, dangerous, dangerous combo and a target.
Dangerous Drew was busy like it was it was like 8:00 and I had gotten yeah, I had gotten like a second wind the.
Best time?
The best time when you realize that the target near your house is open till 11.
No one's there.
7:43
No one's there.
It's excellent.
Like the vibes are Immaculate.
And Drew wasn't home.
And I really got into me.
I was like, I'm gonna hang all the pictures on the wall.
And so I went to buy frames because I have like eight things that I've had for months.
7:59
In December of 2023, I bought a print when I was visiting my friends in Atlanta.
It's October 2024.
I bought a frame for it on this Target trip.
Besides the point Bridget Bridget, friend of the podcast.
Hold on, someone avid listener of the pod let me know if my remembering is correct but either the new moon or the full moon?
8:20
The original episode you talked about finally hanging frames in your apartment.
That is hysterical.
I don't remember that, but I believe you.
Anyways, friends of the podcast, Bridget, who responded to our Instagram story about Kirby, this is how I'm telling you that I just hung that thing up that you had to FedEx me.
8:43
Anyways, I'm in the target.
I have my frames.
My mission's been accomplished.
I'm walking around living my best life.
I'm like, what else?
What else can I spend money on that I don't need?
Sure.
And I fell in love with a pair of or not a pair.
Is it a pair?
8:58
It's not a pair of sheets.
A.
Set a set of sheets.
A set of sheets?
Close enough.
Good enough for government work.
Literally I'm like across the target and I see this fucking sheets print from like what feels like miles away.
9:15
I'm zoned in, I haul ass and so I have these sheets in my hands.
I don't need sheets.
I kind of hate everything that's in my house right now.
Just so like I'm in that phase where I'm like, Nope, everything has to change.
9:31
Everything has to be different.
I'm building a lot of furniture, you know, I'm replacing a lot of things that don't need replacing, but I just don't love my current bed set because it's just like an amalgamation of like all of our things.
Whatever.
It's like whatever was clean is just kind of what's like entered rotation when we moved in.
9:48
So I'm obsessed with these sheets, but they don't match anything that I have.
And so I'm like literally walking up and down the aisles like 8 times where I'm like universe either present me with the perfect comforter or like duvet cover or I'm putting the sheets back.
10:05
I don't need them.
I'm texting you while this is happening.
We're like in or out.
Talk me in or out.
Like really having a moment over these sheets.
You needed some little sheet magic.
I did.
I needed some little sheet magic.
It's so dumb, but I walked up and down the betting aisles of the target.
10:24
I shoot you not four times, 'cause I was like.
You shoot me not.
I shoot you not.
I was convinced.
I was like, the universe is going to give me the perfect thing.
And then it didn't and I put the sheets back and so I finished my, you know, like I finished my piddle around the target where I like also I don't know is this, I don't know if you also experienced this, but when I go to target, I have to do a complete lap like.
10:44
Oh yeah, yeah.
You know, 100 Hondo P Hondo P Like I can't.
I got to.
I have to touch the perimeter of the whole entire.
To be fair, to be fair, my three favorite sections, no.
My four favorite sections are the produce because they often have like fun.
11:03
They they they have my favorite coffee Creamer and they're often the only oat milk, peppermint milk coffee Creamer in the, in the holiday season.
So that's one corner and then the makeup's another corner.
And then the athletic wears another corridor and then the books are the other corner.
11:18
So it's almost like they laid out my target so that I'd have to walk the perimeter.
Exactly.
I don't have to walk the perimeter fully.
It's like the baby stuff in one corner.
But I'm like, I, I know some babies.
You never know.
You never know what I'm going to say.
Sometimes you hit a clearance rack, suddenly you have to walk the perimeter.
11:37
Exactly.
OK, so this is part of my magic moment is the perimeter walk.
All of this is magic.
This entire target run was magic to me.
But anyways, I've walked the perimeter and I'm like, OK, we're just gonna drive by the bedding section one last time.
And I found the perfect duvet cover.
11:53
And I decided that that meant that the universe wanted me to have this new bed set.
And it has changed my whole perspective around like now, 'cause I feel like this is, it's the same way I feel about the store.
12:11
And now I feel about my house, which is like whatever area I like the least becomes my obsession and I have to improve it.
And that area was my bedroom.
My bedroom feels so chaotic.
There's like their furniture doesn't quite fit.
We're still trying to figure out like the, the configuration of like what makes the most sense, whatever, blah, blah, blah.
12:30
And the sheets don't match the duvet cover.
Like everything's terrible in my bedroom.
I make one small switch.
I literally came home.
You texted me.
You're like, oh, worst case, like if it looks weird, you know, like if you get it home and you don't like how it looks, 'cause my issue was my walls are green and the, the duvet cover is also green.
12:47
Molly was like, oh, if it's like a weird thing, you can always just return it.
I'm like, I walked in the door immediately, ripped it open and put it in the washing machine like there was nothing.
There was no stopping me.
I was a monster.
Immediately.
13:03
It's in the washing machine. 2 hours later it's on the bed.
My bedroom's the best room in the house.
Everything's beautiful.
I love this place.
Everything's coming up roses.
Like it's just the best.
I'm living my best life.
Nothing could tear me down.
I love that.
That's a really good full moon ritual too.
13:19
It's changing your bedding because, well, spoiler alert, we're going to talk about that in this episode.
Yeah.
So you're welcome for this lead in an excellent segue I've given you.
Yeah, so if you're Kirby listening, this is relevant.
Yeah, I feel bad we're using this person's name, but they did put it on a public forum.
13:35
They put it on a public forum.
Anyways, anyways, my magic moment is that you can buy happiness, and don't let anyone tell you can't I'm.
Going to go buy myself a grocery store cake after this.
Oh, me too.
13:53
Should we cut this episode short?
Yeah, see you later.
All you get is a magic moment today.
All you get is their relevant 23 minutes.
I can't.
Imagine how pissed people would be.
Oh, all right, let's dive in.
14:11
Let's get started, OK?
I love the full moon as an opportunity for cleansing.
This can be done energetically, physically, both.
It's like a really great time to like light an incense stick and clean your house.
14:26
Use an incense stick how people use the candles, the tea lights.
Yeah.
I'm just every episode I'm gonna find a new way to insert the candle for cleaning thing.
Oh yeah.
But the full moon obviously is when the moon is full.
And so I see it as let me restart that, let me try that again.
14:47
No, that's so.
That's so.
When I say the moon is, obviously I mean, OK, one more second.
When the moon is full, it's at its brightest and I really see that as like a light shining on what needs to be done.
15:05
Molly is still out there.
Sorry, that was so the.
Full moon is when the moon is fullest.
I meant brightest, brightest.
I'm doing my best.
Listen.
15:21
Also, peek behind the curtain.
We're recording in the evening.
Yeah, which we.
Almost never do.
Silly goofy time.
Silly goofy time.
Last night we had a class at Spellcrafter and after the class ended it was like 8:00, eight, maybe 8:30.
15:39
And we give a tarot card with every like when someone checks out.
And so this person checked out, I gave them their card and I before I even started, I go, I'm so sorry.
The 8:00 PM reading is very different.
From the 10:00 AM reading.
Before I gave my sentences like the filter's gone, like I'm at the end of the day, we're just saying whatever comes to mind.
16:00
I don't even know if it's about the card, it's just whatever thought I'm having in this moment.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's what this podcast is.
The 4:00 PM recording is different from the 11:00 AM recording.
Mm, hmm, mm, hmm.
Yes.
When the moon is the brightest and when you were saying it illuminates kind of like the things you need to take care of immediately.
16:18
The analogy that came to me is like, have you ever had an experience where you thought your living room was clean and then the sun shined in just the right way that it highlighted all the dust?
I feel like it's that I feel like the full moon brings to our awareness the dust in our life that is ready to get cleared off, right?
16:41
It's, and I say dust because like, I really want to hone in on this analogy because it's not like the obvious sticky residue that you've been trying to get off for, you know, months and months and months.
It's not the thing that you've been trying to release for months and months and months and months, months.
16:56
It's the stuff that has settled and is ready to go.
It's easy to release quote UN quote and ultimately will help you release some of those bigger, more stuck on things physically, emotionally, energetically.
Yeah, I love that.
It is like a it's like an energetic flashlight.
17:13
Yeah, yeah.
And so the best way to like get in that mode for me, like what my plan is for this upcoming full moon is to deal with my junk drawer.
And I, I have like 2 maybe boxes of like miscellaneous shit from my move, You know, where it's where it's like everything that didn't have a home in the apartment.
17:35
I put it all in one box.
And I was like, surely this will have a natural place to land when I get into the house and it hasn't.
And so, like, my office is just covered in like the bags and boxes of shit that I didn't know where else to put it.
That's my goal for this full moon is like, to declutter and to really hone in on like, OK, am I holding on to this because it feels bad to get rid of it or because I really want it?
17:57
And if I really want it, then it's worth investing the time to find it a home.
Yeah, I love that.
I feel like my whole house is that right now because we're kind of in the in between.
We move in a month so it's like a little bit too soon to start really packing, but all I can do is think about how much packing I have to do.
18:16
Yeah.
Which is the worst time?
So my goal for the full moon is like to tie up some of the things that I can.
Like I have, you know, I'm in the middle of my certification process for, for my Reiki one students.
So I just have like envelopes all over my office.
18:34
Like if you could see the floor, I literally I can only move my chair in like 3 foot because there's like certificates over here, there's mailing labels over here, there's literal trash.
There's just a basket of trash because I decided I was going to declutter my makeup drawer.
18:51
Perfect.
Halfway through the day.
Give it the eel ADHD special.
Yeah, you know, but yeah, cleaning anything is really powerful for the full moon.
I yeah, like you said, lighting an incense stick, lighting a spell candle.
19:08
I'm a big fan of putting a simmer pot on.
And then because my kitchen is kind of like central, my bathroom and my living room connect to it.
And those are typically like the three areas of my house that need the most actual like cleaning rather than just like kind of decluttering or tidying.
19:24
I'll put a simmer pot on the stove and I will use that as like my motivation to clean those three areas.
And then by the time I'm done, the energy is clear, the intention is spread throughout my space, and the simmer pot is simmer in a way.
I love that.
19:40
I think a simmer pot is a really great 1, and that's also something that's so easy to tailor to the full moon.
You know, choose some herbs and things that go along with your intention for the full moon of like some good banishing herbs, spices totally.
19:57
Yeah, I'm not even gonna give you a recipe 'cause I feel like honestly, like simmer pots in general are cleansing because they're.
Putting water into the air, my recommendation is just put some sort of citrus in it.
That's going to be that's going to boost that cleansing a little bit more.
20:12
And then outside of that, you can have free reign, whatever you, whatever intention you want to put into your space while you're cleaning.
That's an excellent, excellent intuition exercise too, is to, you know, just like, see what comes through and see how it comes through, you know, to see how you get that psychic information of like, oh, do I smell oranges?
20:32
Am I hearing someone say peppercorns?
Am I visualizing roses in my mind?
Yeah, yeah.
For me, people always ask me how I come up with simmer pot recipes.
I literally, it's a clear cognizance recipe for me.
I'm like, oh, this needs ginger.
20:48
Oh, ginger, it needs lemon.
Oh, lemon, it needs lavender.
And one time I was like lemongrass.
I was like, I don't even own lemongrass, but I guess we need to get it.
OK Yeah.
So let yourself build it based on your intuition.
I think that's really fun.
Yeah, and then putting that on while you do your chores.
21:08
You wrote this list.
I'm going to be totally honest because these are things that I only do when forced.
OK, that's why they're the perfect full moon chore, Because the way that I think about choosing how to pick chores for the full moon, which part of that is an ADHD life hack?
21:26
Because I do not remember the last time I've done these things except for the fact that I now do them every full moon.
OK, picking a chore that you don't do every week, but if you don't do it every month, the build up starts to become really obvious, right?
21:43
And I think of that as like the energetic build up in your space.
OK, so where is that energy building up?
It's on the things that we don't clean every week, but we need to clean every once in awhile.
So like your shower curtains a great example.
If you don't clean that, you know, every month or so, it starts to get grimy and mildewy and gross.
22:04
And then like six months later you're like, wow, my shower doesn't even feel clean, you know, which then impacts how you feel energetically and your cleansing ritual and all of that.
So 3 chores that I like to do on the full moon around the full moon.
Washing the shower curtain.
This is literally if I could scream this from the rooftops.
22:21
This is my number one ADHD witchy lifehack is washing your shower curtain on the full moon.
You will never forget to do it.
I used to go through a shower curtain liner like every six weeks because they just got so gross.
I've had the same one all year.
22:40
All year, people, it's October.
Being friends with you is when I realize that I'm a gross girl.
I'm like, yeah, I totally wash that shower curtain once a month.
Uh huh.
I'm totally thinking about that all the time.
OK, but you notice when it grows the mildew, right?
I mean, yeah.
So this is a preventative measure.
23:00
Will you teach me how to wash a shower?
Curtain.
You just throw it in the washer.
You can.
The clear one.
Yeah, you can put that in the washer.
Yes.
What?
Throw it?
I imagine you like brushing it, like scrubbing it.
23:16
And I was like what is happening?
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
You just throw it in the washer, throw it in with a couple of towels, and the towels are abrasive enough that they will rub the gunk.
Away.
I thought that you just had to let it get so grossly you couldn't stand it anymore and then throw it away and feel bad.
23:32
No, you throw it in your washer with towels and then for the plastic one, I think you just hang it to dry.
Like hang it back up in your bathroom and like open the curtain up.
I have a fabric liner now because I can just throw it in the dryer.
Wow.
OK thank you.
23:48
Learn something new everyday.
I love this podcast.
I'm actually really glad you asked because I I'm curious if other people thought that I was scrubbing my fucking shower lining every.
Month.
I'm gonna feel so bad and gross if everyone's like, obviously you can put your shower curtain in the washing machine.
24:06
I apologize to anyone I have not been clear enough for you.
Literally it's This is why it's so easy is because you just, when you wash your towels, you just throw your, your shower curtain in and then wow, now I'm like, how many people are like easy?
You're scrubbing your shower curtain every full month.
24:24
Yeah, I was like, does she just keep a sponge in the shower?
For two years, you have thought that I scrubbed my shower curtain every month.
I mean, I wasn't thinking about it the whole 2 years, but like, yeah, no.
Well, I guess the first time that you told me I was kind of too embarrassed to ask because I don't want anybody to know that I'm kind of a gross girl.
24:46
But now I just, I guess I don't give a fuck anymore.
OK, so you throw your shower curtain in the wash.
That's your first full moon.
Short Wow.
OK, I can stop right now.
I'm really like my life has changed considerably.
The next one is to clean your duvet cover, which also goes in the washer.
25:07
That one I knew.
That one.
I knew that one.
I do quite often.
OK, OK, I do.
I do that on the full moon because it can't be bothered to do it any other time.
And it's nice too, because then my bed doesn't smell like dogs for like a couple minutes.
It's a nice little, it's a nice little treat, a full moon treat.
25:25
The third one I'm going to give you is a great one if you, if your sleep is disrupted around the full moon, I know you and I have talked about this before.
I sleep like shit around the full moon.
I either can't fall asleep or can't stay asleep or I wake up feeling like groggy and gross or I have like dreams that keep me up or whatever.
25:44
Vacuum under your bed because so I've talked about this before, but when you're sleeping, your energy field is so much more porous.
So you naturally Slough off energy from your day.
And then where does that go?
But into your mattress and below your mattress.
26:00
And so if you have a lot of stuff underneath your bed, like a lot of clutter or whatever, and you're struggling to sleep, see what happens if you just move that out and then vacuum underneath your bed.
I, I would almost guarantee that you're going to sleep better.
26:16
If you want to take it up a notch, cleanse the energy of your bed.
Either do this with smoke very carefully with something underneath it so that you're not dropping embers in your bed or with sound is great.
But I like to do that on the full moon because it it always reminds me that it's the full moon because I wake up and I'm like, why do I feel like shit?
26:37
I'm like, oh, it's the full moon, I should cleanse my mattress.
Yeah, I think like ritualizing your chores based on how you feel.
Like we talked about it in our energetic cycles video, but it really is like, I cannot stress it enough, such a game changer.
26:52
And it's something that I really have noticed.
Like since I've moved in all of my, you know, my wonky ass route and all of my, all of my rituals have kind of been disrupted.
And I'm kind of getting back into that routine of things.
I notice when I'm not honoring my own energetic cycle so much and when I'm not prioritizing my energetic cycle, like I will get very much in the headspace of what quote UN quote needs to get done.
27:19
Like what are the what are the chores that I see people talk about doing the most?
And therefore, you know, like all obsessed over washing my shower curtain now because you said that it's important to do even if my shower curtain's fine, it's easy.
It's.
Easy to do.
It is now that I know that it's easy, but vacuuming under my bed, when people come over, they can't see that.
27:40
So I'm not prioritizing it.
You know, my, my priority recently has very much been like, oh, we want to have like a house warming party or whatever, or, you know, somebody wants to come over.
Oh my God, like what are the chores that I need to do to make this space work for other people?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
27:55
And I really see that showing up in like, my energetic world.
Yep, Yep.
Relatable.
As someone who just went through what felt like a million house showings, yeah, It was like, how do I make the house show?
Well, and then I'm like, where is all my stuff?
28:12
It's in my Monica closet.
I guess.
I don't.
Need that until I move.
Yep, it's all gone forever.
Yep.
Yeah.
And then next on our list is my favorite chore.
This is my treat chore.
28:28
Your little treat chore.
Little treat chore.
My little chore magic is an altar refresh because it does, it's like a it is a chore, but it also really does feel like self-care.
And so it makes it easier for me to do.
And so my my ADHD life hack is let it be a treat at the end, you know?
28:46
Let it be the last thing you clean.
Or let it be like when you reach that point, like if you have a long list and you don't know how you're gonna get through it, when you reach that point of like I just wanna fuck off and watch tik toks, then refresh your altar.
I love that.
29:01
Yeah, and all, like if it's super low energy, you can just dust, you know, like because, oh, does my altar attract a dust Bunny?
A dust Bunny hates to see me coming in on the full moon.
29:17
But just like kind of doing like a little spruce, a wipe down, a smoke cleanse, a sound cleanse, whatever it may be, run a bell over it.
Or if you want to go a little bit more high energy, you can like swap things out.
You can leave an offering.
You can, you know, decorate it for whatever season is coming up.
29:37
Highly suggest if you're working with this upcoming full moon in October, making a little sew in altar, leaving some yes, put out grandma's figurines.
It's time.
Yeah, I, I, it's so funny because like the way you talk about low effort all to refresh and high effort all to refresh are reversed for me.
30:01
Really my low effort all to refresh is I just switch out some of the crystals and my high effort is like a smoke cleanse or a sound cleanse or a wipe down.
Oh, that's interesting.
I think for me that is like, again, as a certified gross girl, that is the one area of my house that I can't let get dusty and like kind of grimy.
30:28
You know, I really, that feels like harder for me to live with than like dust buddies in my closet or whatever.
And I think it's because it's like a thing that I spend so much time with an AT that I feel it.
I feel like it's almost a level of disrespect to myself to let it get kind of gross.
30:47
And so it feels really good and it helps me build momentum to like, clean it.
It's like taking a shower.
A little bit, yeah, totally.
The next one we wrote down is to do something to refresh or rejuvenate yourself.
31:04
So low effort you could take a nap, higher effort you could get a massage or a Reiki session.
You could go to restorative yoga class if you want something that's like in the middle of the high and the low effort surprise.
I just released the Reiki rest reset last week, which is a, it's essentially like 6 on demand Reiki sessions.
31:26
And the idea is to help you reprogram your relationship with rest.
So if you're someone who feels like I don't have time or I have 17,000,000 other things I need to do, this is really going to help you understand how rest can fit into your daily life.
And it's pretty cool.
It's it's, it's something that I basically built for myself.
31:46
But there are 30 minute long Reiki and guided meditation practices and they all include a reframe to help you rethink your relationship with rest and then a little like 2 minute practice that you can use throughout your day.
And the idea is that you use one of them each week for six weeks.
32:05
And it's based on this study about distance Reiki that I love that basically showed that at the end of six weeks, the participants that received a Reiki session each week showed improvements in their mental and emotional well-being.
32:21
But then they also did the same test a year later and they found that the participants that received distance Reiki, but not the placebo group or the control group still showed improvements in those same factors.
32:37
So it's one of those things where you could do it now and see change in your relationship to rest right away.
And then a year from now, you may not even recognize who you are.
So we will leave the details of that in the show notes.
But I'm pretty proud of it.
32:53
I'm excited about it.
Me too.
I love especially a a tip and trick where the highest maintenance thing on our list is to go get a massage.
Yeah, like if you want to go really high effort, go somewhere else and lay down.
33:11
Yeah, exactly.
I hit you right in the midline, right.
You can lay down from the comfort of home.
Or you can lay down in a professional environment.
Up to you.
Up to you.
And then if you want to go a little bit witchier and do some candle magic, obviously I have to plug the healing hedge witch full moon spell candle.
33:32
It's the full moon and the new moon.
Those are my faves.
Obsessed.
Or if you want to do something on your own at home.
I said this in the new moon episode.
What I'm going to reiterate just in case.
For the new moon, I really like to use black candles and then the full moon, I like to use white candles.
33:50
Obviously full moon, moon white, new moon moon black.
The full moon is when the moon is.
Full but highly recommend getting a big ass white candle. 14 day white candle, seven day white candle.
34:11
You know the the big guys that are in the glass and on a day when you're like a full moon that you're feeling really good and feeling super high energy doing as much magic as you wanna do as you feel good about sigils on the outside, carvings in the wax, herbs, oils, writing petition.
34:29
I think I said this in the new moon episode, but I literally, just like the other day, wrote in plain words what my intention was for the candle on a 14 day candle.
And that's my go to forever now.
Yeah.
That's just how I exist in the world.
It's great 'cause then you never have to remember what it is.
34:45
Exactly, I make it very easy on myself A sigil I will I will lose a sigil like I'll write that bitch down and lose it forever.
What it means I'm like, yeah, sure, that feels good but writing down in simple terms exactly what I want this candle to do.
That's also why I love a 14 day candle 'cause it's a lot of glass to write on.
35:06
But make your full moon candle, then you have it forever.
Or you know, for 14 days worth of.
Full moons, yeah. 14 full moons, you got it for the next year and two months and write out those things that you're looking to release, what you're looking to let go of, whatever it is that's making up that energetic dust that you're ready to let go of.
35:29
You can either slip it under the candle and burn it through the full moon and throw it away.
I'll often like flush it down the toilet if I'm not burning it.
Or you can burn it and give the ashes to the earth.
Or again, sometimes I flush the ashes down the toilet.
Yeah, something that I'll do because this is the time of year I know you in Florida have fires in your backyard all year round, Weirdos.
35:52
Well, not when it's too hot.
OK, this is the time of year that we do fires in the backyard because we're burning leaves, burning leaves.
And so you can write what you want to release on a leaf and then throw it in a fire.
36:08
That's a great idea.
I love that.
I want to do that immediately.
Yeah, and if you want to make it extra witchy, take some of those herbs, throw them on the fire too, right?
Like you could make it a big ol witchy cauldron bonfire.
That's what I can do with all the hurricane debris outside my house.
36:26
There you go.
There you go.
You're burning fall leaves, I'm burning hurricane debris.
We're basically doing the same thing.
We're basically doing the same thing, yeah.
And then the last thing on our list is something that I wrote down, and it's not even really like a tip.
It's more of a mindset shift that I found really helped to me because I've often struggled with the thought of what to release, you know, throughout the month, I definitely think about what I want to let go of or things that I know are not for my highest best good, things that are not serving me.
36:59
And then it feels like at the time of the full moon, especially because I don't often feel well at the time of the full moon, I'm just like groggy, I feel like shit, I'm annoyed.
I don't want to do anything.
It can be hard for me to really make a list of what I want to let go of, especially on a more granular level.
I can think of the big stuff, right?
37:17
Like I want to let go of self doubt.
Who doesn't, you know, like, that's an easy one.
Yeah.
But something that I've really realized recently is that my best manifestation time is right after the energy of the full moon subsides.
37:39
And that has made it easier to release for me because then I have a goal, right?
Like yeah, it would feel good to wake up tomorrow and have no self doubt, but I also don't know that I really am almost like ready for that, if that makes sense.
37:55
Describe it the way you described it, because you made it sense.
You made it make sense to me, yes.
So.
I was getting there.
Oh, sorry, sorry, I was.
I just got excited.
That was my lead and no, it's OK.
So for example, you have to, if you want that new perfect bed set from your target piddle, you got to let go of the ratty sheets that have holes in them and you hate and they're kind of scratchy and they make you miserable, you know?
38:22
But you're hanging on to them because you don't know if there's better out there or aren't thinking about manifesting or bringing in the better, nicer sheets, which by the way, my new sheets are very comfortable.
Thank you for asking.
That was a great analogy, honestly one of the best ones you've ever come up with.
38:43
I asked Molly if I could start my sentence over with the one that she had given me.
So thank you Lily for cutting that out and making me seem really like I came up with that on the cuff.
We love you, Lily.
Love you, Lily.
So if you are going into this full moon being like releasing what no longer serves me is like such a big and vague and scary thinking that it's such a scary assignment that you don't know how to do.
39:12
Think about what you want to bring in and what needs to go for you to have space in your life for that.
This is why, OK, I'm, I'm going to get like all hyped up on this.
This is why I do chores with the full moon because like, mentally I can't even think about that until I'm like halfway through cleaning out my freezer.
39:32
Uh huh.
And I'm like, oh, remember when I was really into like cauliflower rice?
Like what the hell?
Right.
Every day I go to, I go to, I don't go to Costco every day, but every time I go to Costco I'm like, oh, I love those fire roasted frozen veggies, but there's no room in my freezer.
39:50
And then the full moon I go to clear it out.
I'm like, oh I yeah, I was hyper focused on cauliflower rice for a long time and these have all expired and they can go and now I can go to Costco and get the fire roasted veggies.
So just treat your life like one big freezer.
You know what needs to go.
40:08
It needs to go, But it really is true that you're not thinking about what needs to go until you have something that you want to take its place.
Yes, yes, thinking about, OK, all right, wait.
I have a really good real life example of this hit me so.
40:25
Well, don't hit me, but.
This month is the most chaotic month I've ever had, right?
Like I'm moving, I'm acting in a play, I'm doing a Reiki training and I'm writing a book and also like hiring an illustrator for that book.
40:42
Like there's just like some and I launched a new website.
I got a new program launching.
Like there's so much time.
Super chill, super chill.
Remember in January when I was like, I'm gonna have a chill October this year, 'cause I know I'm doing this play.
So I'm just not gonna plan anything else.
So I have every single week I have to sit down and be like, OK, what can I take off my plate?
41:04
What can I take off my plate?
And I literally have had to practice every single week going OK, where are my priorities?
One of my one of my students wrote in their their self Reiki form that they turn in at the end of Reiki one that their practice help them look at whether their priorities align with their values.
41:24
Oof.
That shit hurted.
That has been my mantra.
Every time I look at my calendar, I'm like, OK, are my priorities aligned with my values?
And do I see that on on my calendar?
And I feel like that's the full moon energy.
41:40
It's like, where are your priorities now and are they in alignment with who you want to be?
I love that I'm stealing that.
You should.
That's mine.
No.
Hey, Lily, can we ever do that?
So I said it.
I've been on a really good streak of like getting a lay back in her office chair.
42:07
Molly laugh.
I'm in my funny era.
Oh, all right, we got to end it here.
Did we do it?
I think.
We did it OK.
I love that about us.
